Amberley Grove is a residential street located in the suburb of Epuni in Lower Hutt. The street’s name has an interesting backstory, which dates back to its development. According to local history, the street was named by one of its developers, Mr. Trousdell. Mr. Trousdell had previously lived in Sussex, England, and named the street after Amberley, a village located in the South Downs National Park in West Sussex.
In Mr. Trousdell’s own words, “Amberley is a lovely little memorable village in Sussex.” He reportedly chose the name Amberley because he had fond memories of the village and thought it would be a fitting name for the new development in Lower Hutt.
