Pae Ariki Place is the name of a new street running through a subdivision at 76 Normandale Road, Normandale, and is named after the hill range around it called Puke Ariki. “Pae” and “Puke” both refer to the hill range, and “Ariki” means chief/high leader, so it’s direct translation is “hill of chiefs”.
The name was chosen by Hutt City Council on the 3rd October 2023 i after consulting with the developer & mana whenua.
