Peter Tapp Way is named after the late Peter Tapp, a highly respected individual in Wainuiomata. Peter Tapp dedicated his entire career to the panel beating industry, successfully operating a company in Wainuiomata that specialised in panel beating, mechanical work, and trailer hire. Throughout his life, Peter Tapp actively contributed to the community by employing local residents, providing apprenticeships, and supporting various sponsorships for community projects, schools, sports clubs, and other local businesses.
The name was requested by the development (Friday Homes) and approved by the Wainuiomata Community Board on the 4th November 2020 i
The public road that Peter Tapp Way comes off was named at the same time, Brian Hughes Road.
